Is the earthquake predicted off of BC, predicted to be closer to the metropolitan area, or out in the ocean?
I have heard on the news with some scientists saying that the earthquake could be close to Victoria and Vancouver, and then other reports where it will be off shore? If there are any geologists or seismologists out there that could help clarify this, that would be greatly appreciated.
The earthquake will be out in the ocean. Most of the cities of the Pacific Northwest will be spared the greatest damage (though there will be some damage) because most of them are on narrow inlets set in from the Pacific Ocean.
Other cites, however, such as those in California, Asia, Hawaii and Alaska as well as many other places along the Pacific will be hit hard by tsanamis.
No one knows exactly when the earthquake will strike or exactly how large it will be
