Is China an especially earthquake-prone country and, if so, why?
I read a figure of earthquake deaths in the last couple of decades in China as being twenty-five million or so!!! with millions more injured. Can this be accurate? If true, earthquakes in China are a disaster of monumental importance like I never could have imagined.
Some parts of China are located on plate boundaries and earthquakes occur along plate boundaries. So, it is not a special case.
The high number fatalities is caused by the dense population in China along the earthquake-prone zones.
