Just heard of an 8.8 earthquake in Chile? And a Tsunami heading for Hawaii?
what just happened? Haiti now Chile. Will California be next?
Earthquakes happen every day somewhere on the planet. Most are very small or in unpopulated areas and never make the news, but some are massive in heavily populated areas. Some areas are very susceptible to earthquakes. The same area had 9.5 in 1960 and an 8.3 in 1939 that killed 50K, so it’s not like they can be too surprised.
In 1906 they had a 8.8 earthquake. That’s the same year San Francisco had a 7.9.
