earthquake flyers
What is the booming that shakes our houses?

We live in Woodbridge, VA and there is always this booming going on that is so loud, it shakes our houses. We used to live closer to Quantico and thought that they were just doing exercises there, but now we live further and still it continues. Does anyone know what it is? I’ve heard that maybe it’s airplanes, but don’t really see a lot of those- lots of helicopters, but not so many airplanes, although sometimes we do get a low flyer here and there. I know it sounds crazy, but could they be some kind of low richter scale earthquakes? I know they’ve had them in Manassas before, why not here? Anyway, would love to know the answer, whatever it is.

It is probably a sonic boom caused when jet fighters kick their afterburners in to gain speed.
