Do earthquakes or volcanoes have more impact on humans and the environment?
This is a variation on an essay question I have been given. I said earthquakes have more impact on human activity (eg Haiti) and volcanoes have more impact on the physical landscape (eg Mount St Helens) because earthquakes are less predictable to humans and volcanoes affect the landscape with pyroclastic flows etc. What is your opinion and why?
It depends on the place really. In MEDC’s Scientists will be able to warn people if a volcanoe is going to happen so this will lead to less people dying.
