HOW FAST WOULD MY 2 STORY HOUSE COLLAPSE IN AN EARTHQUAKE?
i live in the bay area and i heard that the hayward fault is the most dangerous fault and in 30 years from now or somewhere in between theres supposed to be a huge earthquake of 8.0 magnitude or above.. i live in a 2 story house. the houses are pretty new.. i think they were built in 2002..and i live in Hayward so i was wondering how FAST WOULD IT TAKE TO COLLAPSE
They would have built the house to withstand any expected earthquake for the area. I would think they would have pretty stringent building codes for that area. I wouldn’t worry too much… i bet it will do just fine in a quake… not to say there won’t be damage to the house, it just won’t fall down completely.
If you are really stressed about it, go down to the building department and talk with one of the inspectors… it may even be the inspector who inspected that development when it was built.
