How can I help the Haiti Earthquake?
I am in my tween-teens, and I don’t have THAT much money. My parents say that if I study hard and become a doctor or something, I can help; but I cant stand watching those children and people die in the earthquake. Even if I donate money to UNICEF, it might just help children, which is OK with me, but I want to specifically help Haiti for now. I have donated $20 to the UNICEF box before.
Bless you. Wow. I love your attitude. I love that you want to help. I feel exactly the same way…you can text HAITI to 90999 to donate 10$ to the red cross relief fund, that’s a good place to start. I’m going to be donating to a very specific ministry, to an orphanage that I stayed at this last summer on a mission trip. They want to raise $12,000 to send food and supplies over and loads more to rebuild the orphanage which was completely destroyed– they’re living in tents. I want to donate to them because I know them and I know how earnest they are and I feel totally good about my money in their hands, knowing that they will use every penny to help, maybe save the lives of, my friends in Haiti. their website is mission-haiti.org
I, too, am a teen with no income, but I find that i can actually work that to my advantage. I find fund raisers are the fastest and easiest ways to help. My friends and I raised over $600 in one night alone serving coffee and cake and accepting donations. I’m going to be doing several fund raisers throughout the year– dinner parties, car washes, garage sales, dances, karaoke nights…
